PROVENANCE [ CANVAS TOTE BAG ]
The canvas tote bag was first invented during the mid 1940's, when an American company called 'Maine's L.L. Bean', wanted to launch a product that offered their clientele with a practical bag for lunchtime. Ultimately, naming and marketing their initial design as an "Ice Bag".
During the 1950's, the design began to attract a wider audience, due to its practicalities and functional use. A simple, yet useful object, which appealed to both men and women, due to its multiuse functionality.
As the canvas tote continued to rise in popularity through the 1960's, fashion designers then began to create their own versions, offering various different takes on the bag, with different styles and additional accessories.
To this very day, tote bags' continue to remain a popular choice, due to their simplicity, elegance, economical aspects, and stylish appearances.
