Winter White Woollen Cable Knit Jumper
Our classically styled Winter White Cable Knit Jumper, has been beautifully crafted from Extra Fine Merino wool, in order to achieve a soft luxe handle and superior finish.
Proudly made in north England, by a highly reputable small team of specialist artisans, run through the atelier. A revitalised version of our previously launched navy design, which proved a popular piece amongst our traditional knitwear collection. This cable knit has been purposely constructed from a heavyweight Italian yarn, which provides the jumper with an opulent composition that is built to last.
Inspired by the original folklore, that the cable knit construction was created to resemble fisherman ropes, we have reworked our pattern to feature an intertwined section as the main focal point, with zigged-zagged details adjacent to either side, to echo that of frayed boat rope.
The fisherman rope effect is created by back-to-back twisted cables, mixed with a diamond cable and small twist. Knitted from Zegna Baruffa Cashwool Maxi 3000 yarn, providing the jumper with a weight of approx. 1kg. Therefore, this plump 3gg fashioned Aran crew neck, makes for a versatile lifestyle.
Since being adorned by fisherman out at sea, due to the practicalities and versatile nature of the garment. The cable knit sweater has transitioned from its early historical workwear roots, into a fully functional piece of leisurewear, often associated with gentlemanlike pursuits such as cricket and golf. Often considered as a casual menswear staple, the cable knit has become a timeless and transitional layering piece, since the mid-20th century.
